Un-junk our Neighbourhoods

Un-junk: your community food alliance working towards healthier neighbourhoods

The growth of fast food outlets in WA has spread too far. Yet new fast food outlets keep getting the green light even when locals object. In 2025, 88% of fast food applications received community objections, but got approved anyway.

Current planning rules make it too easy to overlook what communities want and ignore impacts on health and wellbeing.

Un-junk is building a movement to change that by calling for better planning rules that protects our local food environments.

Un-junk is here to help WA communities speak up, push back against the spread of junk food, and give communities a real say in shaping their neighbourhoods.

Visit un-junk to write to your local MP demanding change that puts community health before fast food profits.
